For our final project in IDEA we were tasked to create a clock. To create this clock we would need to use three of the different machines we learned about this year. I ended up using my original idea for my clock. I decided to create a clock in the shape of the Seahawks logo so that my family could now have a clock in our workout room (In case you didn't know, our workout room has a ton of sports memorabilia so this would fit in perfectly.) The three different machines that I would use would be the Laser, the 3D Printer, and the Vinyl Cutter. I would use the Laser to cut out the initial design of the clock, I would use some form of wood and then engrave and cut out the Seahawks logo. When I create the initial shape of the clock I would create the Seahawks logo but have it attached to a circle around the outside so that it still held a circular clock shape. In my opinion wood looks very nice and can be used in almost any situation. I would then use the 3D printer to make a green minute hand, and a blue hour hand. I decided not use a second hand because in my opinion it would become too clustered. Finally I would use the Vinyl Cutter to make the hours of the day. I would alternate the hour colors with a blue-green pattern to match the minute and hour hand. If I were able to make this project I would have used my time in the lab very wisely. The first thing I would have done is created all of my files using Inventor and Illustrator. I would then create all of the pieces at once and put them all together at the end. I think that this would be the most efficient way to create my clock.
This is an example of what the clock would look like. Obviously the clock would be would and instead of having he colors on the logo it would be engraved but this is just and example.
