During this rotation we had to come up with an item that would hold something. For example we could have made a toothbrush holder, coin holder, phone holder, and more, or we could have came up with our own idea which is what I did. I decided to create and AirPod holder that I could mount on the wall and hold them while they charge. I decided to do this since I use my AirPods a lot and they die very quickly so they need a spot to charge.
Sadly due to the unfortunate circumstances of the world right now I am unable to include the screenshots of me creating my AirPod holder in Inventor but luckily I can describe it. To start off with I created a box just to get the size of the holder correct. I then made a hole in the inside to create where the AirPods will sit. After that I created sketches to create the arms of the holder and extruded those. Finally I used the filet tool and made the design look nicer. Once I finished my design I put it into Makerbot and turned on SmartExtruder+. I then printed it on the 3D printer and got my final product which I am able to show you right here.
During this rotation of IDEA I learned many things. One of the things I learned was how to use Makerbot, I had forgot from the first unit so I relearned how to do that and I can now consider myself a pro. As you can see my AirPod holder turned out great and I can now use it to charge my AirPods. Overall this rotation was very fun and I had a fun time making my AirPod holder while sitting next to Graham.
